Students in Professor Maria Ruvoldt’s Spring 2019 class, Seventeenth-Century Art, collaborated on video projects presenting a representative sample of works by the most prominent artists of Seventeenth-Century Europe housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. These brief videos are the result of both individual research and collective work. Students selected their art works, compiled and annotated bibliographies, proposed new wall labels for the works, and ultimately wrote scripts and designed video presentations to present their research. Aimed at presenting these highlights of Seventeenth-Century European art to a general audience, the videos weave together scholarly research and close visual analysis.
